Forgotten Children (“Forgotten Children,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Tucson, Arizona 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting vulnerable children through housing, nourishment, education and compassionate care in M’bour, Senegal. We respect the privacy of donors, supporters, volunteers and website visitors.

This policy applies to information collected through this website and through forms or links presented here. It does not control the privacy practices of independent third-party websites or services. When you leave this website, the privacy policy of the destination service applies.

Information you provide

Depending on how you interact with the site, you may provide:

  • Your name, email address and communication preferences when joining our community or requesting updates.
  • Your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address and engraving instructions when submitting an engraved-paver request.
  • Information included in a question, message or other communication you send to the organization.
  • Donation and transaction details when you choose to contribute.

Donation information

Donation links on this site open Square, an independent payment processor. Square collects and processes payment-card and transaction information under its own privacy terms. Forgotten Children may receive information needed to document and acknowledge a contribution, such as donor contact details, gift amount, date and transaction status, but does not receive or store full payment-card numbers through this website. Technical information

Our hosting provider and services used to operate the site may automatically receive limited technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, referring page, timestamps and diagnostic or security logs. Cookies or similar technologies may be used when necessary to deliver, secure or measure a service. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling them may affect certain features.

We do not sell or rent donor contact information to third parties for their own fundraising or marketing.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe option in a message or by contacting us. You may also ask to access, correct or delete personal information you previously provided. We will consider and respond to requests as required by applicable law, subject to identity verification and records we must retain for legal, tax, fraud-prevention or operational reasons.

Browser controls can be used to block or remove cookies. If you follow a link to Square or another third party, use that service’s privacy controls for information it collects directly.

Children’s privacy and dignity

Our mission serves children, but this website is intended for adult donors, supporters, volunteers and community members. We do not knowingly use this website to request personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted personal information through the site, please contact us so the matter can be reviewed and appropriate action taken.

Photographs and stories about children are handled with attention to dignity, safety and the mission. Please do not use this website to submit sensitive information about a child unless the organization has specifically requested it through an appropriate channel.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive information through general website forms or email.

Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including donor acknowledgment, tax and accounting records, communications, dispute resolution, security and legal compliance. Retention periods may vary by record type.

This site links to external services and public-information resources, including Square, the organization’s contact and paver forms, ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer, Charity Navigator and Cause IQ. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of those independent services.
